Air Quality
How much time do you spend wondering about air quality? Perhaps it crosses your mind if you’re exercising near a main road and can smell exhaust fumes. But what about the air inside your home? It might never cross your mind but, the things we use to make life more comfortable, such as cleaning products, candles, and air fresheners could be creating air that harms us when we breathe.
Since early 2020, we’ve all spent more time in our homes than ever before so it’s really important for us to think twice about the products we use and the possessions we have as the wrong kind of materials or ingredients could be seriously harming our health.
This article by Which? Has some really good tips on how to improve air quality and also offers this advice related to cleaning products:
“Be aware that, when it comes to marketing, words like ‘green’, ‘natural’ and ‘eco-friendly’ are often meaningless, as there’s no regulation around their use. The same applies to images of flowers, trees, blue skies and oceans.”
At Home Loving we would strongly endorse this advice, having been through a journey to develop and create environmentally-friendly, safe and vegan cleaning products. We’ve seen how many interpretations of these credentials exist and how easy it would be to add just one ingredient which would mean your product carried a risk to users or the planet.
Our top tip, to add to the Which? ones, is to always check out a company’s background, reputation and find out as mush as possible about their back story before buying anything.
